နန္ဒီတာဟက္ဆာ Nandita Haksar က ဤစာအုပ္သည္ ၁၉၉၈ ခုႏွစ္ ေဖေဖာ္၀ါရီလကတည္းက အိႏၵိယႏိုင္ငံရွိ အက်ဥ္းေထာင္မ်ားတြင္ အက်ဥ္းခ်ခံေနၾကရေသာ တိုက္ပြဲ၀င္ ရခိုင္ႏွင့္ ကရင္လူမ်ဳိး ၃၄ ဦးအေၾကာင္း စံုစမ္းေလ့လာေရးသားထားသည္။ ၎တို႔ကို အိႏၵိယေထာက္လွမ္းေရး အရာရွိတဦးက ျမန္မာစစ္အစိုးရ၏ ခုိင္းေစခ်က္ျဖင့္ လွည့္ျဖားဖမ္းဆီးခဲ့ျခင္း ျဖစ္သည္။

`ဒီစာအုပ္က ျမန္မာ-အိႏၵိယဆက္ဆံေရး အထူးသျဖင့္ ၁၉၉၀ ေနာက္ပိုင္း ျမန္မာ့ဒီမုိကေရစီေရး လႈပ္ရွားမႈအေပၚ အိႏၵိယအစိုးရက သူ႔မူ၀ါဒေတြကို ေျပာင္းလဲလိုက္ၿပီးေနာက္ပိုင္း အေရးပါတဲ့ အစိတ္အပိုင္း အေၾကာင္းအရာ တရပ္ကို ေရးသားထားတာပါ။ ျမန္မာ့ခုခံေရး လႈပ္ရွားမႈအေပၚ အက်င့္ပ်က္ အိႏၵိယစစ္ေထာက္လွမ္းေရး အရာရွိတဦးက ဘယ္လိုဘယ္ပံု သစၥာေဖာက္လွည့္ျဖားခဲ့တယ္ ဆိုတဲ့အေၾကာင္း အေသးစိတ္ ေလ့လာေရးသားထားတဲ့ ျဖစ္ရပ္မွန္ အေၾကာင္းအရာ တခုပါ´ ဟု မဇၩိမအယ္ဒီတာ ဦးစိုးျမင့္က ေျပာသည္။

Mizzima Media releases Burmese-language edition of Rogue Agent

Delhi, India (Mizzima) - A Burmese-language edition of Rogue Agent by Nandita Haksar has just been released by Mizzima Media in cooperation with Penguin India.

The book is an investigative exploration of the plight of 34 Arakanese and Karen freedom fighters who have languished in Indian jails since February 1998, when they were deceived by an Indian intelligence officer allegedly acting at the behest of Burma’s military government.

Soe Myint, the executive editor of Mizzima Media, says, “This book is an important part of India-Burma relations, especially after India changed its policy on supporting Burma’s democracy movement in the1990s. The book is a true, detailed story of how a corrupt military intelligence officer betrayed the Burmese resistance movement.”

Penguin, which released the English version in 2009, adds that Haksar’s story unfolds like a thriller set against the background of the geopolitics of the Indian Ocean. The rivalry between India and China, the growing importance of Burma’s gas reserves as well as ethnic insurgencies in India’s northeast are all critical factors in the story.

Rogue Agent exposes not only the injustice meted out to the Burmese freedom fighters but also the extraordinary silence of the Indian state on the circumstances surrounding the Indian agent’s disappearance.
